Special Meeting called to order at 6:03 pm
Agenda:
- Tax Equalization Meeting –
o No one aired any grievances about property taxes
o Zelda discussed Vanguard value determinations, reasons for re-assessment, County Board of Equalization increases, County Sales Ratio increases, increase to recover part of the deduction given to each residential property
o Zelda passed signature page to Fitzgerald
o Zelda provided everyone present with a copy of the 2025 Pembina City Value Changes list to review
o Zelda presented her book for anyone to read through
o Discussion about 9% increase on residential properties due to 2023 Tax Commissioner decrease of 30%; and to recoup the 30% reduction (MAP Factor) in full in 2026 rather than drag it out.
o Zelda said that anyone over 65 or disabled and earning less than $70,000/year can apply for the Homestead Credit/Renters Credit and there are credits for New Single-Family Homes, Improvements to Commercial & Residential Buildings, New & Expanding business Credits.
o Stoiber paid Zelda for her work
o Council reviewed Zelda’s work
o Huttunen made a motion to accept the report as presented. Seconded by Carattini. All Ayes. Motion carries.
