Official Minutes for March 30th, 2021, Pembina City Council Special Meeting

Council Members Present: Mayor Mike Fitzgerald, President Jeff Watts, VP Ron Fritz, Greg Koropatnicki, Jennifer Martin, Pat Burton and Allen Huttunen

 

Absent:  none

 

City Employees Present:  Lisa Hall/Auditor

 

Others present:  Brenda Masloski and Connor Snitker

 

 Meeting called to order by Mayor Fitzgerald at 6:00 p.m.

 

  • Tree pile:  Another bid was received this week that came in lower than the other two.  Other bids our outdated and should be resubmitted.  Motion by Fritz second by Watts to table tree pile until next meeting.  Ayes all present.  Motion carries.

 

  • Clarification on Committees Spending:  Connor here for recreation board.  He is requesting the council increase the spending cap allowed for committees before needing council approval.  Tabled until next meeting.

 

  • South Pembina:
  1. Gravel:  Lisa advised council gravel is needed by bleachers area and under. 
  2. Agri-lime:  The ballfields are in need of some.  Lisa will call for pricing to present at next meeting.
  3. Chemical/sterilant-fields & under bleachers:  Instead of the spray get pricing on granules for next meeting
  4. Gooselaw sign:  Needs to be put back up somewhere looking for suggestions. 
  5. Roof-pavilion:  Brenda here with quotes for materials and requesting permission to move forward with project and apply for self-help grant.  Motion by Huttunen second by Martin to accept the bid on materials from Trail’s End Building Supplies.  Ayes all present.  Motion carries.
  6. LW grant-benches:  Lisa applied and received $2450 to purchase benches for the playground in south Pembina
  7. Janitor/Maintenance:  Lisa will advertise in paper and on face book.
  8. Signs-LW 2019:  In 2019 Lisa applied for the Larry Wilwant grant and was awarded $5000 some of which still needs to be spent.  She contacted the golf course and will be getting together with them to get a couple signs for them as well as others in the recreation area that need replacing.

 

  • Summer ball:
  1. Uniforms:  Motion by Huttunen second by Martin to approve up to $2,000 for the purchase of new uniforms for pee wees and tee ball combined.  Ayes all present.  Motion carries.

 

  1. Coaches:  Motion by Huttunen second by Fritz to pay the 2 head coaches each $750 for tee ball and pee wees and 2 assistants each $500 for tee ball and pee wees.  If the head coach wants a second assistant they will have to take care of that themselves.  Ayes all present.  Motion carries.

Motion to adjourn by Fritz at 6:40 p.m.
