Special Meeting
Date: Tuesday, March 7th, 2023 at 5:30pm
Location: Professional Building
Meeting was called to order at 5:34 pm
Roll Call: Renee Thomas, Connor Snitker, Mike Fitzgerald, Allen Huttunen, Jeff Watts
Absent: Ken Norby, Pat Burton
Guests: Sherri Carattini, Greg Koropatnicki, Rob Fleming (by phone)
- Countrywide Sanitation/City of Pembina Contract – Discussion of changes made in the previous draft of the contract, as currently agreed upon by lawyers of both entities. After going through the contract, Al Huttunen brought up the fact that the Commercial pickups had not yet been resolved and the rates quoted to us previously had not been added to the contract we were reviewing at this time. Also, because a letter had been authorized to be sent to Valley Landfill to stop residential pickup, but to continue commercial pickup – and because the Countrywide contract mentions exclusivity in collecting both residential and commercial garbage – council members agreed that there needed to be a final decision with Countrywide as to when they planned to begin commercial pickup. Once we got that in writing, we could send another letter to Valley Landfill, terminating all pickups. Rob Fleming stated he would reach out to Countrywide’s lawyer to request an updated contract with commercial information to be submitted to the council by 3:00 pm Monday, March 13th, 2023, in time for the council meeting at 6:00 pm. Motion to Table signing of contract by Snitker, seconded by Thomas. All ayes present. Motion carries.
